THE DRUMS Brutalism (Indie Exclusive 2019 UK/EU 10-track LP pressed on Clear Vinyl. Brutalism is the fifth album from The Drums and the second made as the solo project of Jonny Pierce, written between upstate New York and a studio in Stinson Beach, California, following a difficult period of self-sabotage during a solo stint in Los Angeles. Pierce has said making the record was part of a genuine effort to confront his own struggles: "I was exhausted, depleted and sabotaging myself, partying so much but in reality running away from pain. It was a downward spiral." He handed over much of the creative control he'd typically kept for himself, bringing in outside musicians and Chris Coady (Beach House, Future Islands) to mix the record, and it became the first Drums album to feature a live drummer. This edition includes a silver cardboard inner sleeve and fold-out lyric poster, and adds a bonus track, "Try," exclusive to the vinyl release. Hype sticker & factory sealed.
