The MAX31856 performs cold-end compensation and digitizes the signal of any type of thermocouple. The output data is in Celsius format. The converter can resolve the temperature to 0.0078125°C, allowing readings up to + 1800°C and down to -210°C (depending on the thermocouple type), and has a thermocouple voltage measurement accuracy of ± 0.15%. The SPI-compatible interface allows the selection of thermocouple types as well as Settings for conversion and fault detection processes. The thermocouple input has overvoltage protection up to ±45V. Lookup tables (LUTs) store linear correction data for several types of thermocouples (K, J, N, R, S, T, E, and B). Includes 50Hz and 60Hz line frequency filtering, and thermocouple fault detection.
