DESIGN: The almond blossoms come from a series of paintings painted by Vincent van Gogh between 1888 and 1890 in Arles and in Saint-Rémy in the south of France. As a basis for the almond blossoms, flower studies of a Japanese print of Kunisada had acquired by Theo and Vincent for their collection. The bright colour reflects the paintings created in Arles and van Gogh's transforming work on the genre of still life.
