Ingo Maurer Table lamp White Paper. Dimensions: Ø 75 x H 76 cm - Cable: W 250 cm. A poet of light, German designer Ingo Maurer (1932 - 2019) has continually blurred the boundaries between art and design. His eccentric lighting fixtures, a blend of poetry and humor, are part of the design collections of the world's greatest museums, and are the subject of exhibitions around the world (at the Vitra Design Museum, the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain, etc.). Attractive as they are unique, Ingo Maurer luminaires are handcrafted in the company's workshops in Munich, Germany. Ingo Maurer designed the Lampampe lamp in 1980. Trained as a typographer, the German designer has always appreciated paper as an excellent filter and reflector of light. An alliance of poetry and softness, this Japanese paper lamp is the result of genuine craftsmanship: each handmade piece is unique. On the Base, the paper is deliberately crumpled, adding a playful, quirky dimension to the design. The Lampampe lamp is an evanescent luminous object. The translucent crumpled paper lets in warm, soft light. The light is sculpted into the fibrous material and seems to breathe, offering a luminosity of another kind, definitely subtle. The large dimensions of this Lamp make it a masterpiece. Paper is used to create an impressive volume, with no superfluous material, so as to avoid an overly massive product.
