For mounting a desktop PCIe 1x card on a laptop using its internal miniPCIe power port. The miniPCIe part is housed in the laptop, and "transforms" the mPCIe port into a PCIe 1x port. The PCIe socket is powered: 3.3V via the miniPCIe port 5V either via USB cable (hence the USB socket on the socket) or via floppy cable (white 4-pin plug) 12V via floppy cable (depending on your PCIe card, you will need to use the appropriate power supply).
